The 800m, 2026

The 800 had more runway.

Parker cracked sub-1:57 in April at Plymouth Whitemarsh (1:56.12), then held the 1:57 range through the championship season. After Districts he attacked: two open meets in three days — 1:55.66 → 1:54.37. He carried that fitness to New Balance Nationals Outdoor in June (1:54.83). Most seasons end in May.

From 1:56 in April to 1:54.37 in May — nearly five seconds off the 800m across the season, steepest after the championship window closed. The June mark at New Balance Nationals Outdoor (1:54.83) showed the fitness held into the national stage. The arrow still points down.

Background · Where It Started

Same bib. Same kid.

Long before 1:54 there were Saturday-morning fun-runs — same number on the chest, every time. Five seasons of varsity cross country and track later, the habits that started here are the ones still on the start line: show up, hydrate, race the back half. The water bottle came early too.
